March 26, 2004. ****************************************************************** Hello, Dark Shadows Fan, ShadowGram (SG) announces the following breaking news for Dark Shadows (DS). --- 2004 DARK SHADOWS PREPARES TO FILM SG has learned that the highly-anticipated new one-hour DS pilot for the WB Network is expected to begin filming during the coming week at various locations in the Los Angeles area. Shooting has been delayed from the original March 22 start date in order to finalize various production matters. Six DS scripts also have been ordered for review by the WB. The finished pilot film will be considered for a proposed new weekly series. The WB will make their decision and announce their fall schedule sometime in May. Among the cast members who have been hired are: ALEC NEWMAN (Barnabas), MARLEY SHELTON (Victoria Winters), IVANA MILICEVIC (Angelique), JESSICA CHASTAIN (Carolyn Stoddard), MARTIN DONOVAN (Roger Collins), MATT CZUCHRY (Willie) and ALEXANDER GOULD (David). Others will be confirmed in the week ahead. (SG Online Update #111 previously announced Marley as the first confirmed cast member.) The hardcover volume will feature over 300 photographs from Curtis' career, including several rare DS images. The April 22 Museum of Television & Radio evening with Curtis in Beverly Hills is sold out. --- Congratulations to DAVID SELBY (Quentin). He receives an honorary doctorate and delivers the commencement speech for West Virginia University's graduation ceremony May 16 at the Coliseum on the Evansville campus. Located near Morgantown at the junction of I-79 and I-68, it is approx. 70 miles south of Pittsburgh and 200 miles north of Washington, DC, just below the WV/Maryland border. David holds B.S. and M.A. degrees from WVU and a doctorate from So. Illinois University. He has been very involved in arts and education in his home state. --- Congratulations to ELLEN WHEELER (1991 Phyllis Wick), who now is Executive Producer for "Guiding Light." She's acted in TV, soaps, and stage, plus directed and produced for soaps. As an actress, she won 2 Daytime Emmy Awards for "All My Children" and "Another World." --- CHRIS PENNOCK (Jeb, Cyrus/John, Sebastian, Gabriel) is "Claudius" in Shakespeare's play "Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark" now through 3-30 at the Tamarind Theatre, 5919 Franklin Ave., Hollywood. 323-465-7980. --- JIM FYFE (1991 DS' Willie, Ben) is "Ivan Cutler" in the made-for-cable movie "Phantom Force." It debuts on Sci Fi Channel 3-27, rerun 3-28 and 4-1. He told SG #100 he plays "an evil genius, just out of prison" and it shot in Sofia, Bulgaria last spring. It's a spinoff from the "Interceptor Force" movies about a secret military force that protects humanity from supernatural threats. It examines the pedophillia "scandal and cover-up" within the Catholic Church. Plans call for the film to be "an unflinchingly honest account," but victims' names will be changed for their protection. Casting is underway and pre-production should begin next month.
