****************************************************************** ShadowGram Online Dark Shadows Updates List Marcy Robin's Cyberspace "Dark Shadows" Update List An Internet Publication of SHADOWGRAM < ShadowGram@aol.com > Number 122. October 19, 2004. ****************************************************************** Hello, Dark Shadows Fan, ShadowGram (SG) announces the following breaking news for Dark Shadows (DS). **** Last month, SG Online Update #121 made the premiere announcement that the "Dark Shadows Hollywood Weekend" sponsored by the DS Festival will be held July 29-31, 2005. SG now adds the following Premiere Announcement: --- The event will be held at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel, 1755 N. Highland Ave., Hollywood, CA 90028. 323-856-1200. This "dazzling landmark hotel captures the legendary glamour and excitement of Hollywood's illustrious past. As cornerstone of the spectacular Hollywood & Highland™ retail and entertainment destination, the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel is located among (over 50) trend-setting shops, (over 20) world-class restaurants and nightclubs, legendary landmarks, and state-of-the-art entertainment venues, including the Kodak Theatre - new home of the Academy Awards® ceremonies" - and site of many other live entertainment and special events year-round. There are 637 "stylishly appointed" sleeping rooms, a rooftop outdoor pool, fitness room, and other guest features. Nearby services include Visitors Information Center, U.S. Post Office, and a currency exchange. In very close walking distance is the legendary "Hollywood Walk of Fame" - sidewalks lined by "The Stars on Hollywood Boulevard." These world-famous icons honor hundreds of film, stage, television, radio, and other media celebrities, from early industry pioneers to today's personalities. The world-renowned Grauman's Chinese Theater also is part of the Hollywood & Highland complex. Many movie premieres have been held here over the decades, but it is best-known for its courtyard filled with celebrity handprints, footprints, and signatures (and sometimes more, like Jimmy Durante's nose or Trigger's hoofprints), all set in the cement. A short walk along adjacent Hollywood Boulevard also brings you to the historic 1920s "movie palaces" El Capitan and Egyptian Theaters, the Hollywood Entertainment Museum, shops, restaurants, and many other unique places. This central Hollywood area is easily accessible by car, airport van service, major buslines, taxi cab, and local Metrolink subway trains. Within a few miles are Universal Studios Theme Park and CityWalk retail center, Beverly Hills, Hollywood Bowl, Pantages Theater, Paramount and other studios, West Hollywood, Griffith Park, Los Angeles Zoo, Getty Museum, Rancho La Brea Tarpits, Staples Center (major sporting and entertainment events), Dodger Stadium, local beaches, and much more. The closest major airports for domestic and international travel are Los Angeles (LAX) (13 miles) and Burbank Airport (8 miles), together serving U.S. and foreign destinations. Hotel sleeping room reservations are now being accepted. Rooms are $139 + tax per night (single-quad). Call the hotel reservations direct line: 323-856-1200. www.
