December 6, 2004. ****************************************************************** Hello, Dark Shadows Fan, ShadowGram (SG) announces the following breaking news for Dark Shadows (DS). ******* CHRIS PENNOCK (Jeb, Cyrus/John, Sebastian, Gabriel) asks SG to announce he plays Gerald in the farce "White People Christmas." Playwright Ernest Thompson: "I worked with (Chris) on the soap opera 'Somerset' 30 years ago." In the play, dysfunctional family members confront each other and current world events with a "dark Dickensian" twist. "White People Christmas" plays Dec. 2-19, Thurs.-Sat. at 8pm, Sun. at 7pm. The Zephyr Theatre is located at 7456 Melrose Ave, Hollywood, CA. Call 323-852-9611 for reservations. ******* The new print issue, SG #103, is being mailed now to current postal-mail subscribers with the latest DS news, updates, and pictures. Following are SG #103 key highlights, plus much more. --- SG remembers DON BRISCOE, who died of heart disease at his home in Memphis 10-31 at age 64. (SG Online Updates #123 and #124 sadly announced his passing.) This memorial features pictures of Don as his DS characters Tom Jennings, Chris Jennings, and Todd in "House of DS." Don also portrayed Chris Collins and Tim Shaw. He was in 95 DS episodes between 1968-70. After leaving DS, he chose to avoid celebrity and eventually returned to live with family in Memphis. There are circa-1960s pictures of Don on- and off- set and in 1995, plus obituary information with comments from his surviving sister Bonny Jenkins and his DS colleague ROGER DAVIS, who remained in contact with him. ---- LARA PARKER (Angelique, Catherine) celebrates her exciting news: She receives a Masters Degree in Fine Arts this month. She is completing the manuscript for "Dark Shadows: Revenge of the Vampire" (tentative title), her new DS sequel novel. She tells SG #103 about the book, which should be published in late 2005. --- SG #103 announces: NANCY BARRETT (Carolyn, Millicent, Charity, Leticia, Melanie) is working on a CD with a variety of songs, hopefully for release next year . --- MARIE WALLACE (Eve, Mad Jenny, Megan) updates SG #103 about her career biography "On Stage & In Shadows" and shares her recent news. --- DAVID HENESY (David, Daniel, Jamison, Tad) is seen in a new photo in SG #103. He now lives in Panama. --- JOHN KARLEN (Willie, Carl, William H. Loomis, Desmond, Kendrick) is pictured as a guest at the 8-27 screening of his 1971 adult horror film "Daughters of Darkness." --- DAN CURTIS (Creator/Director/Producer) directed/produced the fact-based film "Our Fathers" for Showtime. It probably will air in May, 2005. (Also see recent SG print issues.) He's started filming the TV movie "Saving Milly." --- DAVID SELBY (Quentin) is filming a new Sci Fi movie, tentatively titled "Black Hole." SG #103 has a publicity photo of him in his first Sci Fi movie "Larva," which expects to premiere 1-15 on Sci Fi Channel. His intense fact-based play "Final Assault" may be produced in his hometown of Morgantown, WV. --- JAMES STORM (Gerard) recently portrayed a "Monseigner" in the play "Damages." This SG issue includes review excerpts and commentary about the play's frank look at the child sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic Church. --- BOB KNUDSEN (Cameraman) shares a photo of himself and a personal story that touches the heart for the holidays and throughout the year. He is co-producer/co-writer on the CD "I Remember Christmas" by Richard Wintergarden, available from www.sceneville.com --- JERRY LACY (Tony Peterson, Rev. Trask, Gregory Trask, Lamar Trask) shares a family photo and gives SG a detailed family update. His wife is actress Julia Duffy; daughter Kerry is studying drama in NYC; and son Danny is a high school sophomore who also acts. --- JIM FYFE (1991 Willie, Ben) tells SG about his current acting and voice-over projects. --- JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT (1991 David, Daniel) stars in "Mysterious Skin," an intense drama film about the life-long impact of child sexual abuse. This SG includes interview and review excerpts, pictures of Joe, and more. --- SG #103 has details from the author of the new biography "The Bennetts: An Acting Family" about JOAN BENNETT (Elizabeth, Naomi, Julia, Flora). There are DS pictures, interview comments, and more. --- SG #103 has interview and review excerpts for the adventure/horror novel "Hawkes Harbor" by S.E. Hinton. In the late 1990s, the author submitted the manuscript as a possible DS novel but it was not accepted. This novel is her non-DS reworking of the manuscript. --- Announcing plans for the Dark Shadows Festival's "DS Hollywood Weekend," being held in the heart of Hollywood, CA from July 29-31, 2005. (Also see recent SG Online Updates to this List for information on guests, local attractions, hotel reservations, etc.) * SG #103 Premiere Announcement: Weekend highlights include: An all-new DS dramatic stage performance will star the actors. A special salute to DS' own Hollywood legend, Joan Bennett, will showcase rare film clips and remembrances. There will be a memorial tribute to Don Briscoe and his career. A 7-29 trip to Greystone Estate in Beverly Hills takes fans to the filming site for the 1991 DS and WB pilot. --- SG #103 has in-person photos (including exclusive pictures) and details from the 2004 "DS Weekend In Tarrytown," held last August in Tarrytown, NY. --- SG #103 updates current information about the WB pilot filmed last spring. Scriptwriter Mark Verheiden shares his remarks. The issue also has pictures and current events for pilot cast members. The producers are considering other options.
