July 30, 2003. ******************************************************************* Hello, Dark Shadows Fan, ShadowGram (SG) announces the following breaking news for Dark Shadows (DS): * ALEXANDRA MOLTKE ISLES (Victoria Winters) tells SG her documentary "Porraimos: Europe's Gypsies in the Holocaust" will be shown on WNET-Channel 13, the NYC-area PBS station, on Sun., Aug. 3. "Porraimos" means "the devouring" in the Roma language. The 2002 film chronicles the persecution of the Gypsies, or Roma people, by the Nazis during World War II. They were pursued, segregated, imprisoned, tortured, subject to the "pseudo-science" of eugenics, and executed in concentration camps. The documentary utilizes interviews with Gypsy survivors, vintage photos and film footage, and other materials. This is Alexandra's third documentary, her second relating to victims of the Holocaust. More information about all 3 of her films is found in SG print issues; "Porraimos" is featured in SG #97. * REBECCA STAAB (1991 DS' Daphne) portrays vampire "Elizabeth Barrington" on "Port Charles." However, ABC is canceling the daytime soap. Its final episode will air on Oct. 3. * The DS Festival convention asks SG to announce the following development: "DARK SHADOWS FESTIVAL UPDATE: NEW YORK MILLENIUM HILTON TO ACCOMMODATE FESTIVAL ATTENDEES IN NEED OF SLEEPING ROOM RESERVATIONS The 20th Anniversary Dark Shadows Festival, which will be held August 29-31, 2003 at the Brooklyn Marriott Hotel, has sold out of sleeping rooms at both the Brooklyn Marriott and its sister hotel, the New York Marriott Financial Center Hotel.
